Mann Elementary and American University volunteers join hands with community to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to sustainability. The Green Apple Day of Service will see community, parents, faculty and students participate in green educational sessions, hands on training for campus green teams and volunteer work to support the transition of Mann Elementary s significant schoolyard garden with minimized site disturbance .

Education sessions will prepare volunteers for exciting service projects at the school and generate ideas that can be implented in their homes as well.
Trail Scouts: Help the school create trail maps for exploratory walks for off campus learning while construction is ongoing on campus.
Recycling Audit:Help the school identify recycling needs to develop a recycling plan.
Garden Relocation: Help the school maintain some of its mature gardens by assisting with their relocation.
Create a Raingarden: Help the school breathe life into its existing rain garden.
Plant a tree: Learn and join an innovative method of urban tree planting.
